Jungle Fag está de vuelta!

Estamos celebrando el fin de semana de la independencia de Costa Rica en el hermoso Valle Diamante, donde tenemos un nuevo centro de retiro para la comunidad LGBT+: “Shine”, nuestro propio “Barrio Gay” en la jungla.

Dino Urpi será el anfitrión de nuestra fiesta Jungle Fag el sábado por la noche, con el DJ Tommy Hart llevándonos hasta las primeras horas de la mañana del domingo.

Esta vez estaremos ofreciendo una práctica diaria de yoga y movimiento dirigida por JuanKa, además de recorridos por las cataratas y una oportunidad de conectar con la naturaleza durante 3 dias.

¡Únete a nosotros para un fin de semana de diversión y tiempo para encontrar el equilibrio, reconectarse, revitalizarse y celebrar!

Llegada: viernes 16 de septiembre de 2022 por la tarde

Salida: lunes 19 de septiembre de 2022 por la tarde

Cada día exploraremos meditación, movimiento, reflexión, naturaleza y aventuras. El retiro incluirá todas las comidas, utilizando ingredientes locales cultivados orgánicamente siempre que se pueda.

Lugar + Alojamiento: El retiro se llevará a cabo en “Shine”, nuestro propio “Barrio Gay” en el Valle Diamante de Costa Rica, que se encuentra aproximadamente a 3,5 horas en automóvil desde San José, la capital. Tendremos hospedaje disponible en el centro de retiro, en cómodas y elegantes cabinas en la jungla. Alternativamente ofrecemos espacio para acampar. El alojamiento debe ser reservado por aparte de la entrada a la fiesta.

Tenemos diferentes opciones disponibles para adaptarse a su presupuesto que se pueden comprar durante el proceso de reserva.

Transporte: Cada quien deberá organizar su propio transporte al centro de retiro en el Valle del Diamante. La dirección se enviará al realizar la reserva.

Precio reducido/becas: Queremos hacer que esta experiencia sea lo más accesible posible, así que hemos reservado algunos “becas” para reducir el precio del retiro. Si no puede pagar este precio, haga clic en el botón "Contact Organizer" y explícanos tu situación y qué precio podés pagar. Nosotros haremos todo lo posible para adaptarnos a su situación.

Asimismo, si está dentro de lo posible, te invitamos a considerar contribuir al fondo de becas durante el check-out.

Política de cancelación: Cancelaciones antes del 1 de septiembre de 2022 serán reembolsadas en su totalidad, menos el depósito ($ 50 USD) pagado al momento de la reserva. Cancelaciones después del 1 de septiembre de 2022 no serán reembolsadas; sin embargo, si podemos conseguir un reemplazo para llenar su lugar, otorgaremos un reembolso completo (menos el 10% de cargos administrativos); sin embargo no damos garantía de que esto suceda.

Jungle Fag Party Is Back!

We’re celebrating over the Costa Rican independence weekend, in the beautiful Diamante Valley, where we have a new retreat home for the lgbt+ community, Shine, our very own Gayborhood in the jungle.

Dino Urpi will host our Jungle Fag party on Saturday night - with DJ Tommy Hart taking us through to the early hours of the morning.

And this time we’ve combined a daily movement yoga practice, led by JuanKa, waterfall tours, and an opportunity to connect with nature, over 3 nights.

A weekend of fun as well as time to find balance, reconnect and re-energise.

Arrival: Friday September 16th 2022 afternoon

Depart: Monday September 19th 2022 afternoon

Each day we will explore meditation, movement, reflection, nature and adventures. The retreat will include all meals, using local, organically grown ingredients whenever possible.

Venue + Accommodations: The retreat will be hosted at Shine our own Gayborhood in the Diamante Valley of Costa Rica, which is roughly a 3.5 hour drive from San Jose, the capital. Accommodations are available at the retreat centre in comfortable jungle cabins or camping, and need to be booked in addition to your retreat/party ticket.

We have different options available to suit your budget that can be purchased during the booking process.

Travel: You will need to arrange your own transport to the retreat centre in the Diamante Valley. Directions will be sent upon booking.

Reduced price / scholarships: We intend to make this experience as accessible as possible for people so we have set aside some scholarships to reduce the price of the retreat. If you are unable to afford this price, please click the "Contact Organizer" button and explain your situation and what price you are able to afford, and we will do our best to accommodate your situation.

If you are able to, please consider a contribution to the Scholarship fund during the check out.

Cancellation Policy: If you decide to cancel before September 1st 2022, you will receive a full refund minus the deposit ($50 USD) paid at the time of booking. If you cancel after September 1st 2022 no refund will be given, however if we are able to fill your spot, a full refund (minus 10% admin fee) will be provided, however, there is no guarantee this will happen.

The Queer Wellness Collective is here to create a place of belonging for the queer community. We stand strong on our own, we thrive in community, and we savor our connection to the natural world. Together we practice, heal, dance, grow, and learn. Join us online for a stream of empowering content, practices, and resources, and in-person for retreats combining the best of modern psychology, embodiment practices (yoga, meditation, dance, etc), and plant medicine ceremonies (for some retreats).

This trip helped me to ground myself in the beauty of nature, to shed the veil of constant distraction of life, technology, social media and the city and really look at myself. The compassionate nature of the facilitators, the community coming together each on their own healing journey and the delicious local food came together perfectly.

I was stressed out this fall, facing burnout at both my job and in my work in the community. When I realized I had vacation time to use up, I explored my options. Maybe a winter vacation in the Canadian Rockies? Snowshoeing could build on my hiking practice. But it’s one thing to go on long hikes by myself in Marin County - going out in snow country is another! Then the Queer Wellness Collaborative came across my screen. The Remembering Wholeness retreat would fall after a big event I was planning, and before the holidays. A week with other queer men into yoga, with meals and activities included? Yes! Just a few years ago, I might have felt unprepared. But a bunch of pandemic-era hiking had built my confidence, and had led me to a practice of daily exercise and I had achieved more strength while addressing alignment and posture problems that had long vexed me. Now in my fifties, I have a better relationship with my body than ever before. The retreat would be both a reward and a gateway to continued growth. My husband told me he supported my choice, and I signed up. I’m so glad I attended Remembering Wholeness. The food, the shelters, the facilities, the movement, the ceremonies, and the natural environment were all worthy of accolades. Mostly, I basked in the company of other queer men, all of us sharing our joy and spirit with each other. I highly recommend the retreat and stays offered by the Queer Wellness Collective.

All in all, a really worthwhile experience. The setting is gorgeous. The glamping tents were great. Very comfortable. (Although, if you happen to have torrential rains, make sure your belongings are off the floor!) The common areas are so beautifully designed. Very restful and relaxing. And it seems to be early days still for the resort. Having glimpses of the building projects, both planned and in development, the site will only get better as it goes along. Great food. The chef was phenomenal, even with the numerous dietary guidelines put upon her. The food was fresh, healthy, and delicious. The moderators were top notch. Truly. The shaman was present and available to answer questions and help calm nerves. He had such depth and compassion. I felt safe in ceremony knowing that he was there. The yoga teachers were fun and awesome. Their energy was infectious, while also feeling calm and centered. The three of them, in addition to the group sessions centered around the sutras, really are what elevated the entire week. They held space. It was a safe place to be vulnerable. And it was palpable. While I can only speak for myself, while I felt safe to let down my guard and voice my fears, my shames, my insecurities, I also was able to witness the other participants on a similar journey. We became a community. Would I do it again? Most definitely.
